Dr Michelle Harvie discusses the creation of The 2-Day Diet

19th March 2013

Losing weight should be easy.  Eat less, exercise more and the pounds should drop off.  That’s the theory, but as we all know, it’s anything but easy, and obesity rates are soaring.  I’ve devoted much of my working life to helping people at high risk of cancer lose weight, so I know how hard it can be. Seeing their struggles  made me determined to come up with a diet that would get the weight off, but was simple enough to fit into a busy life.

Our original approach - the Genesis milk diet – was really successful and showed that dieting for just two days worked, but we realized this diet only allowed a limited range of foods and were concerned that people would struggle to stick with it in the long term. We knew we could improve on it.  So working on those basic principles, we developed The 2-Day Diet.

The 2-Day approach takes you away from the grind of daily dieting.  The rules are simple.  Just cut your carbs, eat plenty of healthy proteins, nuts, fat and vegetables for two days – and eat healthily for the rest of the week.  You don’t have to fast, in fact the diet’s designed to help you stay full –  it’s easier to stick with it because you don’t feel hungry. It’s nutritionally balanced and there’s no calorie counting, so it’s easy to do, and there’s loads of choice, so you won’t get bored. And because the 2-Days retrain your eating habits, the weight stays off.  You won’t just lose weight – you get the added benefits of cutting your risk of cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Unlike other 5:2 diets, The 2-Day Diet is clinically proven - it has been extensively researched and tested in randomised trials of real-life dieters – so we know it works!  Lots of them had tried repeatedly to lose weight  - The 2-Day Diet worked where others hadn’t.  We believe that it will make a real difference to your weight, and your health - your slimmer healthier future starts here!
